True story… A friend of mine in town on business just sent me a PIN message asking if I knew of any good places to get something for lunch near the office building he is in downtown. I haven’t worked downtown for 10 years so I told him to tell me what he was in the mood for and I would look something up. He said that is what he was going to do but he was already on the street and didn’t have his laptop. h To make a long story short, I told him that there are like a gazillion (a few dozen or more) BlackBerry applications designed to do exactly what he was asking me to do. Here is a list of 10 of them that you absolutely can’t beat the price. GoodFoodNearYou — GoodFoodNearYou helps you find the best food options at twenty restaurants near you. In one simple search, you get free and instant access to the menus and nutrition information for popular casual dining restaurants, fast food restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience stores near your location.

According to an IDC report , the BlackBerry Curve, once again takes the number 1 spot for the most sold smartphone in the United States. Not only is the the BlackBerry Curve king of the hill, 4 other BlackBerry devices round out the top 10. That being said, I have to call BS on these numbers. For some strange reason IDC decided to lump all of various BlackBerry Curve models into one big group. When they say that the BlackBerry Curve is the number one selling smartphone in America what they really mean is the BlackBerry Curve 8300, 8900, and 8500 series devices were number 1. I don’t have any particular issues with how IDC does their math expect for the fact that IDC didn’t lump the iPhone 3G S, which came in second place, and the iPhone 3G, which came in fourth place, together

It seems like 2D barcode technology, mobile tags, as they are commonly referred to, are on the come up here in the United States. Just the other day we talked about Microsoft Tag . Today we’ll talk about JAGTAG, who, just announced that their technology is now available on all 5 major carriers in the U.S. This covers 87% of users. JAGTAG works a little differently than what we BlackBerry users and smartphone users are used to. There is no application to install. Simply take a picture of the JAGTAG and text it to or send it as an email. It is a bit tedious compared to just snapping a pic on your BlackBerry and being automatically taken to a mobile mobile website. All the more reason to make your next mobile phone a BlackBerry.
