GetJar , the second biggest app store in the world, held their Gettie Awards 2010 event a few nights ago where they announce their picks for the best mobile applications of the year across multiple platforms. In the the BlackBerry category, Kayak Travel App for Mobile took home the top spot. I have to admit, that I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of the Kayak BlackBerry application but it is appears to be a mobile client that integrates with back end of the the Kayak.com travel which I have actually heard a lot of good things about. Kayak Travel App for Mobile is a free BlackBerry application so it is probably definitely worth taking a look at, especially if you are looking for great deals on airfare and hotels
WorldMate 4.0 was released today and has introduced TripCatch , an opt-in service that monitors a user’s BlackBerry mailbox for travel confirmation emails and imports the travel itinerary automatically to their WorldMate account.
FlightTrack , a very popular travel application for the iPhone, is now available for the BlackBerry via BlackBerry App World . FlightTrack, as its name implies, allows you to track every aspect of domestic and international flights including delays, cancellations, and gate information. We’ve talked about travel applications before. WorldMate is one of our all time favorite BlackBerry applications, however, BlackBerry travel apps, WorldMate included, are often geared towards road warriors. FlightTrack is geared towards anyone with a BlackBerry that intends to get on an airplane at some point. Even if you only fly once per year or two to go on vacation, knowing the status of your flight in near real-time is invaluable
