This post originated on Simple Mobile Review I know that every BlackBerry user isn’t an iPod Touch owner and visa versa, however, the combination of the two devices often seems to be as common as peanut butter and jelly. Today I sat in a meeting where every user at the table had a BlackBerry and 4 of the 6 BlackBerry users also owned an iPod Touch. As we got to talking about it we all came to the same conclusion… The BlackBerry is the king when it comes to anything related to communication (messaging and phone). The iPod Touch is great at the multi-media and application stuff. Yeah, I know… Ground breaking details. The thing is, we ALL wanted an iPod Touch with a 3G data option like the iPad and a camera. No one wanted the iPhone (as a phone) as we all want to avoid paying again for a voice plan we did not plan to use

If this image is not Photoshopped, and, there is no reason to believe that it is, it may be the first picture of the BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider in the wild. See what CrackBerry forums member GoBlue has to say about this photo… A few weeks ago I was at my kids event and saw some person sporting a slider….no big deal I thought until I saw him slide it and saw the BB Logo….I asked him it that was the new BB Slider and he yep. Played with it a few, it was running 6.0

Two months ago today Microsoft announced Windows Phone 7 , the all new Windows mobile operating system that will be a lot more like the Zune than it is the current version of Windows Mobile. Windows Phone 7 isn’t an upgrade, but, a completely new direction in mobile operating systems for Microsoft. Even though Windows Phone 7 isn’t due out until the latter part of this year, I know all this because, to put it mildly, Microsoft has been hyping Windows Phone 7 up beyond all belief… I’m not sure if RIM has noticed, but, a lot of BlackBerry users are dissatisfied with the BlackBerry, particularly the BlackBerry OS and its lack of general “coolness” when compared to… well… pretty much everything else. A real problem this year for RIM will be customer churn, as long-time, die-hard, BlackBerry fanatics that automatically update to the latest and greatest BlackBerry every couple of years, are increasingly looking at alternatives like the iPhone, Android, and even Windows Phone 7.

The title of this post pretty much says it all. Jeff Glueck, CEO of Skyfire basically had this to say about why they’ve halted development of Skyfire for BlackBerry on the Skyfire blog earlier today. I paraphrase, of course… Head after the jump to see his actual words.

As many of you have noticed, and, even a few have mentioned, RIMarkable has a new look. It’s something that we’ve been wanting to update for quite a while, but, to make a long story short, as bad as old theme looked on the outside, it didn’t compare at all to the mess that we had going on underneath the hood. I won’t go into all the things that were wrong, but, before we could slap on a new coat of paint, we needed to move to a new host with legs that could support all the traffic that RIMarkable has been getting lately. That new host is VPS.net , and, I can honestly tell you that they are the best web host I’ve ever had
