Report Community Issues With SeeClickFix

SeeClickFix is a pretty cool service that I believe that I first saw on DiggNation sometime last year.  The idea behind SeeClickFix is to bring citizens, community groups, and local governments closer together by allowing you to see a non-emergency type issue on your community and report it to the appropriate authorities quickly and easily.

What Am I Missing When It Comes To Foursquare?

It seems like more and more of my friends are getting hooked on Foursquare , so,  I’ve decided to give it the honest try.  I’ve got to be honest though.  I am either too anti-social or to worried about being tracked from space, because letting the world know where I am via Twitter and the internet does not sound appealing to me at all.

Adobe Air Coming To The BlackBerry

Today at Mobile World Congress, Adobe will announce plans to bring Adobe Air to both the BlackBerry and Android.  This is a huge deal for pretty much every smartphone platform, less Apple, because it will allow mobile application developers do develop applications once and distribute them to any smartphone supporting Adobe Flash 10.1. AIR is currently used to create desktop applications, but it will soon be used to create Android and Blackberry apps as well.

BlackBerry Curve #1 Selling Smartphone In The States… Again… I’m Calling BS Just Little Bit…

According to an IDC report , the BlackBerry Curve, once again takes the number 1 spot for the most sold smartphone in the United States.  Not only is the the BlackBerry Curve king of the hill, 4 other BlackBerry devices round out the top 10.  That being said, I have to call BS on these numbers. For some strange reason IDC decided to lump all of various BlackBerry Curve models into one big group.  When they say that the BlackBerry Curve is the number one selling smartphone in America what they really mean is the BlackBerry Curve 8300, 8900, and 8500 series devices were number 1.  I don’t have any particular issues with how IDC does their math expect for the fact that IDC didn’t lump the iPhone 3G S, which came in second place, and the iPhone 3G, which came in fourth place, together

How Will RIM Handle Memory In The Next BlackBerry OS?

One of the big complaints about the BlackBerry when compared to other smartphones is that a lot of the applications that run on the BlackBerry seem outdated and less sophisticated when compared those that run on devices like the iPhone and those running WebOS or Android.   To make a long story short, the complaints are fairly valid and much of the issue is because of the way that the BlackBerry utilizes memory.

Research in Mototion’s New BlackBerry Browser Will Be A “Game Changer”?

You may have heard that Research in Motion has been working on a new Webkit based BlackBerry Browser that they say will be on par with that found on the iPhone by the summer of this year.  To let the world know that they were serious, RIM purchased Torch Mobile , makers of the Webkit IRIS browser back in August of last year.  Just the other day RIM filed a patent application describing a proxy based web browsing scheme similar to that found in Opera Mini, and recenytly,  analysts over at Canaccord Adams have gone on the record stating they believe the new BlackBerry Browser will be out before May and that the experience will be a “ game changer “. “it is a full rendering engine with incredible speed, sub three second download speeds for the most media-intensive of websites, while retaining significant bandwidth advantages over any other device or browser on the market.” For the sake of argument, let’s say that the new BlackBerry Browser actually turns out to be better than Safari on the iPhone.  Is that enough to change the game?  I am not so sure that a really good, or even a great BlackBerry Browser is enough to change the game alone
