I just installed face2face , a cross platform, location aware, social networking client from Promimate Global that combines Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter networks into a single client as well as ads consolidated chat between face2face users, on my BlackBerry, and, although I’ve only played around with it for about 5 minutes, it seems to be a pretty slick app thus far. face2face is a location-aware smartphone app that solves the problems of privacy and safety that have become synonymous with social networking – so that more people can benefit from the advantages that come from knowing which friends are nearby. I probably won’t enable any of the location aware aspects of face2face, and I will probably keep using a dedicated Twitter client on my device, however, face2face could be a candidate to replace Facebook for BlackBerry and LinkedIn for BlackBerry. I can’t say for sure just yet, however, I am impressed with speed and the interface of the app and if it allows me to effectively git rid of Facebook which is slow, and replace LinkedIn which is large, face2face, my find a permanent home on my BlackBerry Storm 9530 which is memory starved

BlackBerry Bold 9870 Running BlackBerry 6 Images

Salomondrin has posted what we believe to be the first images of the BlackBerry Bold 9870 to the web. This Bold 9780 is almost identical to the Bold 9700 except for its darker bezel and 512 Mb or Ram compared to just 256 Mb. It is a bit hard to make out from this picture, however, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is running BlackBerry 6. I am definitely looking forward to a video of BlackBerry 6 running on a device that doesn’t have a touch screen

Salomondrin has a new video of the upcoming WebKit BlackBerry Browser , and, after watching it, I’d have to say that I am fairly impressed. When compared to the BlackBerry Browser found in the BlackBerry 9650, the new WebKit BlackBerry Browser appears to be light years beyond its predecessor. I’s still like to see RIM smooth out scrolling and transitions from landscape mode to portrait mode and back, however, all-in-all, the WebKit BlackBerry Browser looks pretty good. RIM Responds To Apple Over “Unacceptable” (read bogus) Reception Claims

I have you haven’t looked and any tech blogs, picked up a newspaper, or watched any news broadcast since last Thursday, you may not have known that Apple held a special press conference Friday to address receptions issues that plague the iPhone 4. Steve Jobs, for the most part down played the issue kind of making it seem like it is more perception than reality (nothing shocking there), however, did address iPhone 4 owners concerns by basically giving all iPhone users a case. Steve Jobs, however, didn’t stop there. In a move that is pretty classless no matter how you look at it, he drug Research in Motion and Nokia into the conversation by, not only stating that handsets from both carriers suffer from the same type of problem plaguing the iPhone 4, but actually showing a video of a BlackBerry demonstrating the issue. Needless to say, this did not sit well with RIM… RIM Co-CEOs, in a joint response to Apple, had this to say: “Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation.
