As many of you may already know, memory has been a point of contention for BlackBerry users for quite some time. To get straight to the point, there simply isn’t enough of it . Sure, the newest devices have 16 gig media cards and 2 gigs of internal memory, but, you really only have 256 MB of application space. Once you factor in the OS you are probably only talking about a 100 MB or so from which to install and run applications and if you don’t have a BlackBerry Storm2 or better, the problem is dramatically worse. The big hit at the BlackBerry Developer’s Conference this week was OpenGL ES which brings 3D graphics support to BlackBerry applications. Starting with the BlackBerry Storm2 and the BlackBerry Curve 8530, developers are going to deliver applications and games that rival what you see on the the iPhone. The problem for RIM, however, is that 3D graphics take up space. They take up a lot of space and the BlackBerrys antiquated way of handling memory is going to be a huge bottleneck

An interesting report from ComScore on Touchscreen Mobile Phone Adoption came out yesterday and a few things in the report kind of surprised me. Touchscreen mobile phone adoption grew at a blistering rate up 159% . Nothing really shocking about that. The iPhone dominates the market with 32.9% market share . Yeah, yeah… Sounds about right.

I installed the new upgraded Blackberry 5.0 OS on my Storm 1 and WOW… what a difference. Typing on the Storm is now way easier and with fewer mistakes. The OS seems to be much faster and the look and feel overall is a much needed improvement. So if you have not upgraded to the NEW 5.0 OS I would suggest you do so.
To get the new OS all you have to do is plug your Blackberry to your Laptop or PC and start the Blackberry desktop and it will search for the latest updates and OS and it should have the option to load the new 5.0 OS.

Every sports fan wants the ability to stream the games to their phones. Well, this year Major League Baseball released an app that broadcasted full games to iPhone users. It was a popular application for the 2009 season, and should continue to grow next year. The only problem is that there don’t seem to be any plans for a BlackBerry version. The NBA just launched a streaming iPhone app, but unlike MLB they’ve already announced their BlackBerry intentions. Fans should have an NBA BlackBerry app by the end of the year, which will make available up to 40 games per week.
The NBA League Pass Mobile costs $39.99 on the iPhone and Android platforms, so expect that for the BlackBerry. Unless your a die hard fan… thats hard to shell out for.

One would have to imagine that if BlackBerry Storm2 dummy display units are starting to appear in Best Buys stores that it probably isn’t going to be too long before they actually start selling the device. It’s kind of odd that Verizon, who hyped the first BlackBerry Storm more than any other BlackBerry that I’ve seen, hasn’t even officially announced the Storm2. Kind of makes me wonder if Verizon is just dragging the ball, or, if they perceive issues with the Storm2 and don’t want a repeat of the nightmare that was the release of the original Storm

To our knowledge Research in Motion still hasn’t officially announced the BlackBerry Storm 9520 , however, this hasn’t stopped Vodafone Germany from listing the GSM version of the BlackBerry Storm2 on their website . I am starting to believe that an official announcement is imminent.
