BlackBerry Applications I’m Tired Of Waiting On

T here is no question that we BlackBerry users are at a disadvantage when it comes applications as compared to users of other smartphone platforms like the iPhone and Android.  The list of reasons that this is the case is long and, at the end of the day, RIM has simply got to do better when it comes to BlackBerry applications.  There are, however, several BlackBerry applications that should have been developed and released a long time ago, and, I personally am just plain tired of waiting on them… LinkedIn for BlackBerry I know that LinkedIn for BlackBerry is currently being worked on and only has been in the “ coming soon ” category since last November, but, this is an application that should have come out a long time ago. For those of you not familiar with LinkedIn , think Facebook for business professionals.  My guess is just about every BlakBerry touting LinkedIn member that logs in more than once per week would download LinkedIn for BlackBerry. Release the dang thing already! SlingPlayer Mobile For BlackBerry Storm I know making an application for BlackBerry devices with keyboards and then remaking the same application for the Storm and Storm2 can be a chore, but, c’mon SlingMedia.  It makes no for there still to be no SlingPlayer Mobile for the BlackBerry Storm.

7 Free BlackBerry Applications To Help You Find something to eat.

True story…  A friend of mine in town on business just sent me a PIN message asking if I knew of any good places to get something for lunch near the office building he is in downtown.  I haven’t worked downtown for 10 years so I told him to tell me what he was in the mood for and I would look something up.  He said that is what he was going to do but he was already on the street and didn’t have his laptop. h To make a long story short, I told him that there are like a gazillion (a few dozen or more) BlackBerry applications designed to do exactly what he was asking me to do.  Here is a list of 10 of them that you absolutely can’t beat the price. GoodFoodNearYou — GoodFoodNearYou helps you find the best food options at twenty restaurants near you.  In one simple search, you get free and instant access to the menus and nutrition information for popular casual dining restaurants, fast food restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience stores near your location.

RIM Has Simply Got To Do Better When It Comes To BlackBerry Applications

I was just taking a look at numbers published by mobile analytics firm, Distimo , that outlines Research in Motion’s abysmal performance when it comes to BlackBerry applications as compared to their competitors.  The best way to describe the number of applications in BlackBerry App World is to call it a complete and utter embarrassment … I would even go as far to say that if RIM doesn’t address application support and development on the BlackBerry in a big way this year, you will begin to see the BlackBerry’s gains in total market share begin to turn into losses, especially here in the United States.

How Will RIM Handle Memory In The Next BlackBerry OS?

One of the big complaints about the BlackBerry when compared to other smartphones is that a lot of the applications that run on the BlackBerry seem outdated and less sophisticated when compared those that run on devices like the iPhone and those running WebOS or Android.   To make a long story short, the complaints are fairly valid and much of the issue is because of the way that the BlackBerry utilizes memory.

The New 5.0 O/S for Blackberry

I installed the new upgraded Blackberry 5.0 OS on my Storm 1 and WOW… what a difference.  Typing on the Storm is now way easier and with fewer mistakes.  The OS seems to be much faster and the look and feel overall is a much needed improvement.   So if you have not upgraded to the NEW 5.0 OS I would suggest you do so.

To get the new OS all you have to do is plug your Blackberry to your Laptop or PC and start the Blackberry desktop and it will search for the latest updates and OS and it should have the option to load the new 5.0 OS.

Blackberry users may soon be able to watch live NBA games

Every sports fan wants the ability to stream the games to their phones.  Well, this year Major League Baseball released an app that broadcasted full games to iPhone users. It was a popular application for the 2009 season, and should continue to grow next year. The only problem is that there don’t seem to be any plans for a BlackBerry version. The  NBA just launched a streaming iPhone app, but unlike MLB they’ve already announced their BlackBerry intentions. Fans should have an NBA BlackBerry app by the end of the year, which will make available up to 40 games per week.

The NBA League Pass Mobile costs $39.99 on the iPhone and Android platforms, so expect that for the BlackBerry.  Unless your a die hard fan… thats hard to shell out for.
