Foursquare for BlackBerry 1.8.4 will eventually be updated on BlackBerry App World but is already prompting users with older versions to update when opened on their BlackBerry. CrackBerry.com just got word that an update to Foursquare for BlackBerry is coming soon, and, from the looks of it, appears to be a pretty major one… The revisions mainly include some big UI adjustments (seen in above screenshots), but users will also be able to view their profile and history information right from the device – though it looks like the “Friends” tab is still not active. The app seems to be running smoother and finding locations quicker as well after foursquare tweaked their device location when checking in. Google Maps for BlackBerry has been updated to version 4.0.1 and now includes a Google Buzz Layer. Google is notorious for not putting out release notes with their updates, however, the big “what to dos” in the latest version are, of course, the new Buzz layer that can be turned on and off from the standard map and the ability to search by voice. One of the best applications that I have ever bought for my BlackBerry is Tether for BlackBerry , an application that allows your laptop to use your BlackBerry devices data connection to access the internet. Tether for BlackBerry essentially allows your device to act as a wireless modem for your laptop. Tether for BlackBerry is fast, allows you to tether via your USB cable or Bluetooth, and, best of all, doesn’t require a monthly subscription . Tether for BlackBerry normally costs $49.95 in the RIMarkable Store and is worth every penny, but, we have 10 Free copies of Tether for BlackBerry to give away . If you want a chance to win a free copy of Tether for BlackBerry, all you have to do is follow @RIMarkable and @SimpleMobileRev then retweet this tweet .

I was just talking with a friend who asked, ” Is there a way to take a screen shot of what is on my BlackBerry’s screen, so that I can email it to someone?” The answer, of course, is yes. There are many ways to create screen captures of what is on your BlackBerry devices screen. Personally, one of my favorite ways to accomplish this is with a slick, free BlackBerry application named Capture It from Tech Mogul that does exactly what its name implies. Capture It is relatively small BlackBerry application coming in at only 13.1 KB and is probably something that everyone with a device running OS 4.3 or higher should download and install. Capture It integrates directly into your BlackBerry menu. All you have to do is select Capture It from the menu when on a screen that you would like to capture. Your device will vibrate for 1 second alerting you that the a screen capture has been successfully created. Capture It saves images in .jpg format to your device’s memory card if inserted or directly to device memory if not and can be accessed via “Pictures”

Loopt is now available on the BlackBerry Storm and BlackBerry Storm2. For those of you that don’t know, Loopt is a LBS application insanely popular with iPhone users. It has been around for a while on the BlackBerry, but, just didn’t offer the same level of functionality as iPhone users had. This is no longer the case… As some of you may know, I am pretty paranoid about walking around with a lo-jack in my pocket allowing me to be tracked from space and broadcasting my location in real-time across the internet, however, those of you that perceived the movie “Enemy of the State” as an action flick as compared to documentary about real life, might find Loopt to be a pretty cool application.
