We just heard that ScoreMobile BlackBerry just surpassed 1 million downloads and receives over 40 million pages views per month.  It is a big deal when any BlackBerry application passes the 1 million download mark, however, to be completely honest,  I think the only reason ScoreMobile hasn’t received even more downloads than it has is because a lot of BlackBerry toting sports fans have yet to here of. BlackBerry Web Plug-Ins For Eclipse and Visual Studio Now Available


BlackBerry Web Plugin version 2.0 Beta 1 has been released for both Eclipse and Microsoft Visual Studio. The BIG news for this release is the new support for building BlackBerry® Widget projects.  These tools will allow you to create BlackBerry Widgets in a much more automated manner compared to calling the BlackBerry Widget SDK via the command line. We have also added a getting started page that will appear when you start using the tooling that will connect you with the right online resources, forums and content to speed your widget development

RIM Announces Widget SDK for the BlackBerry Platform


A welcome press release came out this morning from Research in Motion where they have announced the BlackBerry Widget Software Development Kit which will allow BlackBerry developers to build rich web-based applications that utilize Widget APIs that are rendered via the BlackBerry Browser engine. To make a long story short, it should have just gotten a lot easier for BlackBerry developers to create rich content applications that utilize the hardware and software already on the BlackBerry as well as Push… Using the new BlackBerry Widget APIs, developers can, forexample, create seamless interaction between a widget and the BlackBerry emailand calendar applications, create widgets with the ability to view or editfiles and documents stored on the smartphone, access location-based services orthe media player, and more. Developers can also take advantage of RIM’s uniquepush technology, enabling dynamic widgets that can run in the background andprovide proactive alerts to users in a timely manner
